Quarterly Events

We have four regularly-scheduled events a year — our quarterly events. They are a good time to come together, usually over a meal: meet new people, catch up with old friends, learn more about the organization and find out what we’ve been up to (and what we’re planning!).

A brief summary of our quarterly events is below. For specific dates and registration, please see our Events page.

Note: Until further notice, all events are virtual due to Covid-19.

Lunar New Year Celebration

(January-February)

Celebrate the start of the lunar new year with BKA. We usually gather at a local restaurant to eat Korean food and ring in a hopefully lucky and exciting year.

Chuseok Dinner and Annual Meeting

(September-October)

The Annual Meeting is a great time for both people new to BKA and BKA veterans to find out what’s been happening with the group over the last year. In our once-yearly business meeting, we present a yearly recap of events, programs and initiatives, give a brief overview of the year to come, and vote in the leadership for the upcoming year (voting open to all dues-paying members at the Full Membership and Full Membership/Student and Hardship Levels). It’s also a great chance to meet the BKA board — both existing and incoming — and each other.

The Annual Meeting is usually followed by our annual Chuseok celebration. Chuseok (Hangawi) is the Korean harvest festival. In Korea, it lasts three days and both celebrates the upcoming year and commemorates the ancestors. While BKA can’t celebrate together for three days straight (as much as we'd like to!), we do have a full Korean meal together to celebrate all things autumn — Chuseok, the start of fall, the turning of the leaves, start of school, no more pollen, etc.

Summer BBQ

(June-August)

The weather is warm and we can finally put away the winter jackets and head outside for some games and BBQ. The annual BBQ is usually held at a Boston-area park (weather-permitting) and features grilled food and family-friendly games.

Holiday Celebration

(November-December)

Our holiday party/potluck is usually a low-key gathering featuring seasonal games, good food and good company!
