SAVE THE DATE: Thursday, August 3, 2017. Join BKA for a discussion on "Stereotypes of Adoption and the Effects of Misunderstanding."
We'll have a chance to talk about common (and not so common) stereotypes of adoption as they apply to transracial adoptees. Based on readings and personal experiences, we can compare positive and negative stereotypes to understand how these widely held beliefs affect the social, emotional processes of people in our community, as well as how they affect support for adoptees in general (social, academic, emotional etc.). Come share your stories and hear others.
A selection of short articles around the topic will be shared before the event.
For more information, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org. Feel free to stop by, share, talk, listen ... meet some new folk and eat free food. Dinner will be provided. If you have any allergies/dietary restrictions, please let us know.
BKA Discussion Group is made possible by a grant from the Korean Ministry of Health and Wellness.
Past topics have included KAD gatherings and conferences and various film screenings. If you have topics that you're interested in, please contact email@example.com or reach out to a board member. We appreciate your input!
